Interview with Alberto Garrido, Negri Bossi
Many returned from the K with the idea that was a good show. It breathed some optimism in the sector, filled aisles, many contacts and even sales, do you think that the sector in Spain will recover soon? Do you think that the problem of financing is one of the main right now or the problem lies elsewhere?
No doubt the result of the show was excellent, mainly by what refers to European countries and from other sources, although there was also an important increase in visits by Spanish customers interested and with new projects to make. Some operations were closed later as a result of contacts made at the fair.
After the holidays we have noticed an increase in investment projects, which it did not happen earlier, and a certain revival of the market, while it is true that the decisions are delayed more than what was common before the crisis. I believe, therefore, that there is some recovery, which has been confirmed at the beginning of this year, but we are of course very far from the previous situation.
One of the problems is logically the financing and the decrease of liquidity that occurs in many industries by the important increase in the prices of raw materials that do not immediately can impact some of their customers. The performance of insurance companies of credits, which have much restricted limits of risk, also are creating a certain negative atmosphere within the sector.
Finally the lack of confidence in the future in general and the contraction of consumption, for the same reason, does not help to quickly get out of this situation.
Do you think that there are some industrial segment that will be the to lead the improvement of the sector of injection in Spain?
It is difficult to give an answer to that question there is no any sector in particular, perhaps by removing the packaging and packaging and medical applications, whose level of activity stand out above the rest. In the almost all sectors there are signatures that are functioning normally or even very well and others with very little activity.
If easy pieces no longer is it can compete with cheaper countries, what it should do the Spanish inyectador? Further automation of processes? More integration of functions?
It is true that depending on what type of parts is very difficult to compete with much cheaper countries, but still there are many articles for the quality or guarantee preferred manufacture in Spain. Of course, the advantage is more when it comes to large (for the higher prices resulting from transport) parts, or parts that require great timeliness in the provision or high-technology. A certain decline is having in the use of suppliers of especially Asian countries, by the problems of quality, performance, etc., which in many cases are suffering.
To ensure the future of our industrial path fundamentally improving competitiveness improving production with higher automation and processes integrators, renovation of the manufacturing equipment to achieve higher productivity, cost reduction, and in particular the energy, by the brutal increase that has suffered and that, unfortunately, will continue, etc.
