From the University of Alicante (UA), the experts investigate the commercial use of the ‘fly of the flowers' against the pulgón that damages the harvests in the greenhouses of peppers. It treats of an autochthonous fly, and here roots the importance of the study in opinion of the scientists of the UA, since they could assume the every time greater legal restrictions on the use of plaguicidas chemical in the horticulture. The study, directed by the chair of Zoology of the UA and member of the Institute of the Biodiversity CIBIO, María Angels Marcos, on the ‘fly of the flowers' stands out the inocuidad of this species, that feeds to base of pollen and nectar in his stage adult, to which arrives after a period in which it devours the pulgón that affects to the plant of the pepper. To do an idea, has discovered that the larvae ingieren until a thousand of pulgones during said cycle, of almost a week.
Like result of the scientific work, the CIBIO and the Upper Council of Scientific Investigations (CSIC) have published a guide in which they advise to seed between the plants of peppers of the greenhouses flowers of coriander and straighten maritime to attract to the ‘fly of the flowers' . Also they recommend to open the meshes during the sunny mornings and without wind. In these moments, investigates a method of child of this auxiliary fauna, to scale industrial, in cameras with humidity, light and temperature controlled for his back distribution in greenhouses.
