Interview with Antonio Torné, director of sales of the Division Wittmann, of Wittmann Battenfeld
It is already customary to take for granted that in Europe (and Spain) the automation in the plastics industry is already an obligation. This claim, do there is actually in demand for robots of this industry?
Automate processes is essential and necessary to keep production costs and be competitive.
Does plenty of room in Spain for the sale of robots in the plastics industry?
There are even companies that have not begun in the use of robots, basically because used its resources as a priority in the purchase of equipment of injection. The market is marking the need of robotizar processes to achieve continuous quality at competitive prices, which is a way of ensuring the permanence of the companies in the market. Currently, the short series are no longer an excuse to automate a process if the process requires it, because the cost of not doing so is reflected in the higher cost of the pieces.

There is room to improve the robots? What technical characteristic is your company focusing to make improvements? (speed, accuracy, cost reduction...).
Wittmann is a firm that actively follows the continuing evolution of the sector, developing new technologies to meet the needs of the new processes, enabling us to assert that it exists and we are contributing to innovation in robotics. Our new series of robots, in addition to reducing costs, thanks to the standardization of the series, has improved the introduction of benefits that were previously optional, as well as contribute to the reduction of energy consumption and maintenance. Along with the increase in speeds, we have developed programming levels, simplifying its use.
