"The best offer in the chemical sector Spanish" is cited in Expoquimia 2008
October 7, 2008
One of the great innovations of this year is the 'Lab & Bio', a new classification of more than 7,500 square meters dedicated to biotechnology and analytical instrumentation. Among the activities planned for this sector include the '12th Conference on Instrumental Analysis' (Jai), that organized by the Spanish society of chromatography and related techniques, will be held from 21 to 23 October in the framework of Expoquimia 2008. The event enjoys the participation of the German chemist Kurt Wüthrich, Nobel Prize in chemistry in 2002, one of the pioneers of Biochemistry, who is rapporteur of the Conference. In the days, and with Wüthrich, prominent Spanish and international specialists analyze aspects such as food security, environmental, clinical analysis or the analysis of proteins under the thread of the analytical instrumentation. With these activities, the organizing body responds to the needs of the sector of the bio.
Another great attraction of the Hall is 'Compositech', the space dedicated to the companies that specialize in these new materials and comes to its second edition.
Expoquimia has convened the second edition of award technology with the aim of collaborating in the promotion and dissemination of research in the chemical sector. After its first edition in 2005, the Hall consolidates these awards with a new category, that of biotechnology.
The r & d award has two categories, chemistry and biotechnology. In the first, the jury rewards new materials, new processes and facilities as well as product design and more sustainable chemical technologies that have been completed successfully in the past five years. The second is intended to provide incentives to researchers working in the field of biotechnology to promote the industrial application of its work and rewards research based biotechnology, finished with success, also, during the past five yearsoriginal product, a process or a technology.
Each of the two categories has a prize money of 5,000 euros, a diploma and a medal commemorative. The time limit for receipt of the work was completed on July 31. The Act of delivery of the r & d Awards will take place in the course of Expoquimia 2008.
Discussing scientific and professional
Another relevant acts during the course of the contest is the technical seminar organized by the Institute of advanced chemistry of Catalonia, where experts of the Centro Superior Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) debate about the new challenges of chemistry in the 21st century. The sustainable production of industrial materials and consumer goods, the explosion of new technologies with great potential for application in the area of nanoscience or the growing need for development of new tools to improve the health and quality of life are some of the most important issues that has faced the current chemistry, according to the specialists of the CSIC. From the Organization of Expoquimia added: "current chemistry can make an essential contribution to the most suitable solutions capable of balancing the demands of the population with the management of knowledge and its industrial application".
For the first time, the International Conference on composite materials, organized by the Spanish plastic Centre (Cep), are held during Expoquimia, the Salon International of the chemistry of Fira de Barcelona. On 22 and 23 October, the Gran Via venue is the Centre of interest from professionals in the sector of 'composites' and plastics reinforced with some sessions that analyze the current situation and trends in a key sector for chemistry.
The 19th International Conference of composite materials are the main meeting point for professionals in the sector and a platform for discussion of Spain in the analysis and discussion of these materials. These days in the framework of Expoquimia gives the competition a great added value in relation to its scientific offerings by bringing together leading specialists of the sector from Spain, the countries of the Mediterranean, the European Union and Latin America.
In addition, and as a sign of the interest of Expoquimia in responding to the demands of the sector, part of its exhibition area will be intended for the holding of the second edition of 'Compositech', space which will show the latest developments and advances in this field and which form part of these days.
Next to Expoquimia, the enclosure of Gran Via-Fira de Barcelona will host Eurosurfas and Equiplast, rooms dedicated to painting and the surface treatment and plastic and rubber, respectively. The involvement of the Centre Spanish of plastics in Equiplast is made clear with the Organization for its part of a seminar on polymer and a Conference which examines the latest developments in the injection of plastics.
Safer and less polluting solvents
Formed by a European consortium of companies and r & d laboratories, the Solvsafe project aims to reduce the number and diversity of solvents harmful to health and the environment as well as emissions of volatile organic compounds and CO2 to the atmosphere and promote the use of renewable raw materials as an alternative to oil for the production of solvents.
