The technological centre of Galicia automotive, Ctag since its inception was seen as the area of plastic materials of relevance to the development of the Centre by what bet from their first steps to enhance the development of projects based on the application and study of plastic materials. The Centre established an area of engineering with ability to design and study of processes of manufacture of these materials, with a laboratory capable of validation of plastic in the demanding automotive industry parts, and a laboratory for rapid prototyping with possibility of making prototypes with different technologiesproviding the capacity in realization of inserts of injection mould using DMLS - sintered metal powder laser techniques.

Thanks to these Ctag capabilities, as well as projects to client, this involved in various projects of r & d both study of materials and optimization of process, in which two of the most prominent are:

• The study of the use of biodegradable plastics reinforced with natural fibers in the automotive sector, in collaboration with the universities of Vigo and do Minho, and with the IPPE (Pólo Inovação em Engenharia de Polímeros).
• The manufacture of electrodes for the process of EDM using DMLS (Direct metal laser sintering) from new formulations of metallurgical dust in collaboration with the University of Vigo.

Currently Ctag has increased its capacities in this area with the acquisition of a laboratory for plastic injection, whose most representative element is an Engel machine without columns with 350 t of clamping force, which are you installing a robot in collaboration with Wittmann.

This new laboratory this thought for the validation of new materials and processes, as well as to help the moldistas and inyectadores in the area offering proof of molds and training service, this approach emerged as joint between Ctag and the Galician Association of millwrights Moldistas and related (Agmma), association with Ctag cooperates very actively.
