Proma becomes active agent for the promotion of the sector at the international level

The new edition of Proma exceed 8.638 professionals that obtained in the previous edition, attracted by an ambitious programme of side events, with the X Congress of environmental engineering, the V meetings of transfer of technology, of the international forums of the environmental business and the II Iberian Conference on the future of the recyclingthey will make 2006 Proma, the ideal forum for environmental research, advances in technology in cleaner production and environmental businesses.

With 14 held editions, the accumulated experience and the success of the last calls, become back to 2006 Proma, the unmissable for the environmental sector.

The international fair of the environment, held in Bilbao Exhibition Centre from 3 to 6 October 2006 its 15th Edition, on a date that has been preceded by an intensive international programme. The marketer team of the contest, faithful to its commitment to search for new opportunities in the environmental market and development of initiatives for promoting business exchanges beyond the limits of the own pageant, identified the reference countries to fix so new objectives to their "business meetings" abroad. Three are the fundamental geographic areas that concentrated efforts in this section: Latin America, North Africa and the countries of Eastern Europe's recent accession to the European Union.

The idea of encouraging business between national companies offering products and services in foreign markets with favourable prospects for investment responds to a strategic project, in which Proma becomes active agent for the promotion of the sector at the international level. Through concerted talk shows, framed in spaces of different profile (exhibitions, congresses, forums, trade missions...), the event offers complimentary meeting points of great added value.

Growth and internationalisation are the two key objectives that will shape the next edition of Proma, for which its makers will try to delve into different areas of sectors already summoned - such as renewable energy or manufacturers of equipment for water - treatmentenhancing its representativeness, in addition to the outreach of the sample as a whole.

In an area of 21,000 square metres, a total of 511 companies from 25 countries offered in Proma 2004 an international sample of high-tech, in which Germany, United States, United Kingdom, and Italy occupied the top positions of participationfollowed by Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Portugal, Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and Venezuela.

The participation of companies from all areas of activity distinguished the pageant, in which the treatment of solid waste and contaminated soil, along with the procurement, distribution and channelling of water and waste water purification - the two sectors with a regular majority presence in the contest - shared ownership with percentages of participation of 28 per cent and 22 percent, respectively. For its part, the environmental services and analysis techniques, measurement, regulation and control reached a representation of 13 per cent and 8 per cent, while renewable energy advanced positions with 5 percent.

Proma will respond once again its commitment to the State-owned enterprises in the push towards new foreign markets through its "International Forum of business"

On 6 April took place the first meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee of 2006 Proma, where, among other things, confirmed the conclusion of the "II." "Iberian Convention on the future of recycling", the "IV meetings Latin Americans of environment", the "meetings technology transfer V" and the "X Congress of environmental engineering", which allows to move the solidity of the Congressional program of the event, Dean of his specialty in our country.

Proma will respond once again its commitment to the State-owned enterprises in the push towards new foreign markets through its "Forum international business", a space of exchange business complementary to the exhibition which will take place, in parallel with this, the "IV meetings Latin Americans of environment" and the "business rounds" with foreign delegations from 3 to 6 October 2006, at Bilbao Exhibition Centre.

Both initiatives have been highly valued in the survey opportunities made internationalization to a representative sample of companies and environmental partners in Proma, and will be held with the focus on Latin America, as an emerging area highlighted, and in Eastern Europein line with the priorities set by their own survey. In particular, the countries with the highest score have been Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Poland.

Internationalization of Proma programme shall determine, in addition, the content of the own exhibition, for which its makers will try to delve into different areas of sectors already called, such as renewable energy or manufacturers of equipment for water treatment, among others. The previous edition in figures

A total of 8.638 professionals visited the international fair of the environment, Proma 2004, which took place in the premises of Bec. With this figure, which maintains the level of participation in the previous edition of the contest, Proma confirms its recognition among professionals in the field of the environment, thus validating their status as professional fair for the ecoindustry and main meeting point for companies products and services.

Professionals in the major industrial sectors will visit Proma 2006, a competition that, year after year, validates as a specialist trade fair aimed at the industry thanks to the presence of representatives of the property of equipment, steel, construction, automobile and food sectors, as well as petrochemical, cement, paper and livestock, industry all of them demanding environmental services.

At the institutional level it should be noted, moreover, that Proma will also have representatives at the highest level, both domestic and foreign, the latter through the Organization of foreign delegations from the trade fair institution.

Science and technology will also own space into Proma through the "X Congress of environmental engineering", the "V meetings of technology transfer" and the "II Convention Iberian recycling", quotes already consolidated in the Conference section of the call, Dean of his specialty in our country.

s sectors with greater business representation in Proma are the treatment, recovery, recycling and recovery of solid waste, treatment of contaminated soils, procurement, distribution and channelling of water, treatment and purification of water waste, technical analysis, measurement, regulation and controllaboratories, urban and industrial cleaning and production of energy and renewable energy.

On the occasion of Proma'06, the University of the Basque country and Bilbao Exhibition Centre have organized the X Congress of environmental engineering, which since its inception provides a regular forum for the exchange of results and progress in research to scientific and technicaldevelopment, engineering and management, in the field of science, engineering and technologies applied to the protection of the environment.

In this tenth edition was taken into account the new needs arising from the implementation of modern policies and strategies for integrated environmental management. To this end, the activities of the Congress have been structured in monographic sessions, conferences, round tables, communications and posters, distributed over three hours of work and focusing on "Environmental planning and policy", "Compatible with sustainable development environmental solutions" and "Maintenance""exploitation and of monitoring facilities and environmental control".

The different monographic sessions proposed by the Scientific Committee of the Congress will focus on "New technologies of landfill sites", "Energetic use of waste and biomethanisation", "Urban and industrial waste reuse", "Contaminated soil gas emissions", "Urban and agricultural reuse of wastewater", "Membranes in water treatment technologies", "Integrated water management" and framework directive, "particles in the atmosphere: metrics and impact on health", "Natural emissions and anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions" and "air pollution and climate change: scales, interactions and feedback".

With a view to this new edition of Proma is to also create a forum of supply and technological demand among enterprises, research and technological centres, in order to promote innovation through technology cooperation and exploitation of the r & d results.

Also, this initiative in technology meetings for technology transfer will help to know the State and the possibilities offered by the environmental sector on an international scale.

The meeting is aimed at managers and technicians of the agents of science, technology and innovation, managers, industrial managers, technology directors, directors of manufacturing, industrial enterprises and related services to the industry.

Submitted papers will highlight the current situation of State of the art in "Waste recovery", "European legislation and his foresight", "Emerging technologies", "Situation of the European research" and "Valorisation of waste", seen from the seventh framework programme.

For its part, the Institute for the sustainability of resources (ISR) will organize the II Iberian Convention of recycling, which aims to show the response to the concerns that give rise to the new measures proposed by the European strategy, as well as a meeting forum to showcase the Iberian achievements in the field of recycling.

Program consists of more than 20 referred to the "General framework of recycling" issues with issues such as the European landscape, strategies, industrial, commercial, packaging pharmaceutical and agrochemical waste recycling, demolition, used vehicles, batteries and batteries, oils usedcomputer consumables and domestic, among others.

Finally, Fitec, Fundació Catalana per a the Recerca i Innovació, the r & d space in exhibition events in this organization, will present a framework of technology transfer and University-industry interface configured as the setting for practical meeting between researchers, creators of new technologies and entrepreneurs attending Proma'06.
