CSIC and CDTI will collaborate on national and international promotion of initiatives developed by research groups of the CSIC. The common purpose is to promote a more intensive Spanish participation in international r & d programmes

The President of the Higher Council of scientific research (CSIC), Carlos Martínez Alonso, and the director general of the Centre for the Industrial technological development (CDTI), Maurici Lucena, signed on 31 May a collaboration agreement aimed to "support the creation and development of technology start-ups and promote collaboration between the business sector and the various centres and" institutes. The objective of the Convention is to encourage the Spanish participation in international programmes of r & d that manages the CDTI, in particular, in the calls for the framework programme for r & d of the European Union. The two institutions will work together "to promote international industrial exploitation of technologies developed by Spanish companies in collaboration with the CSIC".

Actions that are part of the agreement signed at the headquarters of the CDTI, in Madrid, among the measures characteristic of CDTI Neotec initiative, for the creation and development of new technology companies. According to these measures, the CSIC will present concerted Industrial Research projects from its centers and institutes, to its subsequent evaluation by the CDTI, which will fund them, provided that they comply with the procedures and requirements.

In connection with the projects of international technological promotion, the Convention contains a plan of action for both parties. The CSIC, which annually provides their rate of participation in the Community framework programme for r & d, inform the CDTI for proposals calls for the framework programme involving the CSIC.

CSIC will also detect among other commitments, the opportunities for their participation in international projects, and inform their researchers in those industrial partners identified by CDTI that they can act in international r & d projects.

The CDTI, for its part, will carry out a systematic follow-up of the proposals involving entities of the CSIC, and will report regularly on the outcome of the evaluation of projects. It will also support the participation of researchers from the CSIC in working groups set up by the European Commission and evaluation panels.

The Convention, of indefinite duration, also proposes that the CSIC and CDTI assess the interest of establishing joint science and technology offices in other countries.
