An international study in which it has participated the Upper Council of Scientific Investigations (CSIC) has discovered that the alloy of magnesium with small quantities of arsenic diminishes and ralentiza the process of corrosion of the material. The results of the work, published in the magazine Electrochemicals Communications, could have applications in the car industry and in electronics equipment dealers equipment dealers. During the study, the researchers tested more than 400 combinations of elements aleantes different to treat to find the way to reduce the susceptibility of the magnesium to the corrosion.

“The magnesium is the metallic structural element lighter that knows , is roughly 40% lighter that the aluminium, by what his potential in the industry is immense. However, in the actuality, his use sees very limited by his high speed of corrosion. According to his authors, the results of this work could apply in the car industry and electronic, since the new alloy would serve to lighten the weight of the components, increasing his energetic efficiency when diminishing the consumption of fuel, what would reduce the broadcasts of gases of effect invernadero.
