Jaume Veciana, DuPont award of the 2005 science

Jaume Veciana (San Salvador, Republic of El Salvador, 1950) graduated in chemistry at the University of Barcelona in 1973 and graduated four years later at the same University in this specialty. Since 1996 he is Professor of investigation of the CSIC and is specialized in molecular magnetism, free radicals and metallic conductors. In addition, he has published 260 articles and in the last ten years appears as one of the most cited Spanish scientists in the area of chemistry. Veciana is a member of the International Advisory Committee, Technical Committee of Materials and the American Chemical Society.
The DuPont award created this company in 1991 to contribute to the development of scientific research and its applications and to enhance the work of researchers in Spain. Since 2002, the call is also open to the world of research in Portugal. The jury of the prize, gathered at the headquarters of the CSIC, highlighted the research work of Veciana, which has received numerous international awards and develops an important work of popular science.
