The report of the Business Council for the Competitiveness stands out the biotechnology like key sector of growth

The CEC is formed by the managerial maxima of Telefónica, El Corte Inglés, Mango, Bank Santander, Repsol, Acciona, La Caixa, BBVA, Mapfre, Inditex, Group Planet, ACS, Ferrovial, Mercadona, Iberdrola, and the Institute of the Familiar Company represented by Group Barceló, Oscreame and Havas Half Group.
The president of Iberdrola, Ignacio Galán, in representation CEC, explained that Spain has llevar important reforms that are seating the bases for an economic recovery in the short term.
One of the characteristics that more stands out this report of the biotechnology is his dynamism in the last years, especially from 2006. It stands out that according to data of the INE, the number of companies biotecnológicas (defines them as 'those that realise R&D in biotechnology'), has duplicated , with an upper increase to 240% between 2006 and 2011, whereas the employment has increased 98%. Resalta That during the years of the crisis the industry has not left to grow, creating from 2008 more than 250 new companies biotecnológicas, with a net creation of employment of more than 3.000 places of work.

-His increasing importance in the international scientific production, occupies the fifth position between the European countries (And15) and has cuadriplicado in the last five years the number of patents requested;
