New technologies of recycling of tyres
A method of recycling of tyres developed by the Upper Council of Scientific Investigations (
“The method of recycling developed consists in subjecting to the tyres out of use to a thermal sensors process to turn into it fuels and able gases to generate electrical power. Through two consecutive stages, distillation and gasification, achieves the total aprovechamiento energetic of the tyres”, explains the researcher of the CSIC Félix López, of the National Centre of Metallurgical Investigations, manager of the project.
Of the first phase, the distillation, results an oil that obtains by means of condensation to low temperature of the volatile fraction, that later transforms in petrol and diesel. Afterwards, in the second stage, the gases that have not been condensed transform in electrical power, whereas the solid residue, designated char, transforms in gas fuel by means of a process of gasification.

Environingingmental problem
In Spain produce every year some 240.000 tonnes of tyres to the year. The difficulties that presents the recycled, reuse and elimination of this quantity of tyres once are out of use suppose a grave environingingmental problem because of the toxicity of the broadcasts by combustion or incineration.
According to López, the technology developed is totally innovative, so much in the conceptual appearances of the process as in the ones of engineering and design. “The main advantage is that it does not generate waste neither broadcasts, and transforms the tyre in fuels and electrical power. Therefore, it contributes to the decrease of the broadcasts of CO2”, adds the researcher.
