Monitor quality of air (MCA) is a compact instrument consisting of a transceiver which projects visible light rays to a receiver unit mounted to 3 metres away.
The reflected light is received by the transceiver and the specific absorption is measured to determine the coefficient of darkening of the visibility within the path of the beam.
Light transmission occurs from a modulated high power LED enabling measurements of high precision without interference from other light sources, such as vehicles, inside the tunnel lights.
