The island is a family company founded in 1870 by D. Gabriel Megías Santana. The island began with the manufacture of gofio and later concentrates its production in the chocolate and the pasta.
The historical factory, which produces pastas and chocolates instead of always, Arucas, has flourished dramatically.

This company Canaria has in its files the title issued in 1901 by the Regent María Cristina de Austria as a provider of the Royal household.
There are several generations that have passed through the island from D.Gabriel Megias Santana, D.Gabriel Megias Fernández, D. Andrés megias Mendoza, D. Gabriel megias Pombo and today represented by the Managing Director, Mr. Andrew megias Pombo.
Currently the island is dedicated mainly production of pasta as well as to the production of chocolate, cocoa powder to the Cup and instant preparations
