Madrid will receive the XIX edition of the prizes Porc d'Or on 23 November

The nineteenth edition of the prestigious prizes Porc d'Or, organised by the Institut of Recerca i Tecnologia Agroalimentàries (IRTA), of the Department of Agriculture of the Government of Catalonia, with the collaboration as in previous years of Pfizer Animal Health and, this year also with the one of the National Association of Porcinocultura Scientific (Anaporc), already is in course. In this occasion, for the first time in his history, has been Madrid the city chosen to celebrate the next day 23 November the big annual event that supposes the delivery of these award, an appointment ineludible that gathers to more than 650 people between graziers of all Spain, companies and personalities tied to this sector, as well as to local authorities, autonomic and national.

This year the jury has selected 77 farms of pork of nine autonomous communities different that, with 120 nominaciones in his group, will opt to the codiciadas estatuillas of gold, silver and bronze.

The prizes Porc d'Or concede every year between the farms that remit periodically his data to the BDporc, attending to the criteria of number of cream alive, tax of childbirths and numerical productivity. The aspiring farms belong to different categories, established in function of the number of sows in the exploitation (1ª until 200 sows, 2ª of 201 to 500 sows, 3ª of 501 to 1.000 sows, 4ª of 1.001 to 2.000 sows and 5ª more than 2.001 sows).

In this edition the number of farms analysed has been of 657, with an average of 888 sows by farm and a total of 583.416 reproductoras, what represents roughly the 26 % of the national census.
