Professors of the School of Engineering Agronómica and of the Half Natural will give the first Máster Forestry Mediterranean to international level
13 February 2012
Treats of the first Máster Erasmus Mundus selected by the European Union like Máster of Excellence in this category. To date, they had given másteres of thematic forestry but never so centred in the Mediterranean Forestry field since in addition to the specialisation, the máster will treat the problems and the peculiarities of the Mediterranean forestry ecosystems.
The forestry studies always have been focused to the forestrys centroeuropeos, with a predominantly economic function of wooden production. Instead, the Mediterranean forestrys, that compatibilizan the economic function –wood, biomass, cork– with the ecological function –warehouse of carbon, mitigación of the climatic change, prevention of fires, regulation of the cycles of water, brake to the erosion and desertification– and the social function –development and rural employment, landscape, tourism and sportive and recreational activities– have shelved to date.
Between the educational personnel of this máster find the professors of the ETSIAMN José Vicente Oliver, María Vallés, Francisco Galiana, Francisco Martínez Capel, Antonio of the Field and Eduardo Rojas, now responsible of the Forestry Department of the FAO. To give the Máster Forestry Mediterranean, the profesorado has accumulated sufficient experience researcher and educational as to develop a temario affine to the aims of the Máster in contents, since all the classes will give in English. This type of education supposes a recognition since internacionaliza to the universities that give it, to the profesorado and to the centre.
