Arias Cañete demands celerity for the negotiation of a new agreement pesquero with Morocco

The claim has had like frame the meeting this week between the commissioner of Fishing of the European Union, Maria Damanaki, and the minister of Agriculture, Feeding and Environment (Marm), Miguel Arias Cañete, has demanded celerity in the negotiation. “We want that the Commission negotiate an agreement with the greater possible rapidity and for this have moved a document of the sector pesquero Spanish and Moroccan in which it contemplates a frame of understanding to facilitate the future negotiation of the agreement pesquero”, has explained the minister.

Arias Cañete has posed equally in this meeting the need of compensatory measures for the sector: “we Want that the Commission enable the mechanisms that allow to award a financial compensation to the armadores and fishermen that have seen interrupted his economic activity by a decision of the Parliament that has cut the normal development of the agreement”. The minister has valued the disposal of the commissioner Damanaki on the negotiation with Morocco, signalling that the this has manifested that expects to have of the mandate negotiator approved by the Council in the month of January, having already initiated the contacts with Morocco to keep interviews so prompt as it have of the mandate negotiator.
