Irta organizes a workshop on new agricultural technologies for the food cluster of Mercabarna

In the framework of technology transfer activities carried out by Irta, its Department of development of research and innovation (DRI) organized a meeting with the Association food cluster of Mercabarna companies wishing to check the feasibility and validation of industrial processes before launching their products to the market.
After a brief introduction on the part of Dr. Joan Tibau and Eliecer López, director of the center of Monells and responsible for the DRI, respectively, Anna Masdeu presented to attendees the lines of research developed by researchers at the Centre of Girona. For its part, the also Dr. Josep Usall, Coordinator of the programme of sustainable plant protection of Irta, briefly introduced the 'FruitCentre', one of the most important research poles in the South of Europe within the agri-food and upcoming launch.
In the second part of the day, the members of the food cluster Association observed in person the application of new technologies as pasteurization by high pressure and sanitation by high frequencies in sea products, products of IV and V range either in fruits and vegetables, meat products and ready meals.
