The Spanish Pavilion at the fair, Hofex of Hong Kong has a 21.4% more companies

ICEX organizes a Spanish flag consisting of 56 companies in the fourteenth edition of the Hofex biennial fair to be held in Hong Kong from 11 to 14 May. Last year brought together 44 Spanish companies, representing a notable increase of 21.4%. This biennial fair is directed to an exclusively professional public and constitutes the most important fair of the sector of food and beverages in the region. In the previous edition was attended by more than 1,800 companies from 66 countries and there was an influx of 32,000 visitors.
As the image of the Pavilion, a gastronomic space where other activities such as wine tasting, seminars, cutting of ham and tasting contest, will be developed to bring to the audience the most relevant aspects of Spanish gastronomy and the products present in the fair has been organized. This action falls within the framework of the activities carried out in the Plan China agri-food. covering the ICEX, the Ministry of the environment, Rural and marine, the Spanish Federation of food industry and beverages (IFLA), the Chambers of Commerce and 16 regional foreign promotion agencies. By provinces, companies come above all from Barcelona (10), Zaragoza (7), Alicante (4) and Toledo (4), among others.
Hong Kong is a market with growing interest and importance to the Spanish agro-food products. The fact that it is the traditional gateway to the Chinese market coupled with the evolution of its domestic market more and more interested in Western products, makes the island a strategic enclave for the marketing of wineolive oil, meat products and gourmet products. -Food and beverage - Spanish agri-food exports to Hong Kong reached in 2010 almost EUR 140 million, representing an increase of 18% over the previous year.
