The IRTA is among the best scientific research centers of the country

According to this study, the IRTA is situated between scientific research centres that provide a greater amount of production. In addition, among the set of research organizations attached to the Administration, IRTA produces a standardized scientific impact that far exceeds the average of all Spanish scientific production, in the 1.1. On the other hand, the IRTA is also among most productive scientific research organizations at the international level, as in this case more than 70 percent of its work carried out with the collaboration of entities and enterprises of other countries.
With regard to research in agriculture and biological sciences, Spain occupies the second position in the European Union and the fourth in the world. This production is of great global impact, according to the study. All the communities autonomous, with the exception of Cantabria, has a very positive situation, including Catalonia and Madrid in production and scientific relevance.
The study on the scientific production in Spain has been prepared by the Spanish Foundation for science and technology (FECYT), in collaboration with the SCImago research group. They work together since 2004 in the annual preparation of the analysis of the Bibliometric indicators of scientific activity in Spain, with the support of the representation of data 'Atlas of science' tool. The result is a comprehensive report containing the main indicators of scientific production.
