The Catalan meat sector requires security for its trucks passing through France, after the attacks of recent days

The Catalan Federation of industries of meat (FECIC) has reiterated the indignation of the sector to the new attack by French pickets against a truck from a Catalan cutting room, during the early morning of 8 March. The FECIC was aware of this Act of sabotage in France which was the victim a truck loaded with pork meat in the Marcjoan Import Export company as well as the driver of the same, which was attacked. Before this new incident, the FECIC has again requested the General Directorate of agricultural resources and ranchers of the Ministry of agriculture and the Directorate General of livestock of the Generalitat to become involved and make the necessary representations to the French authoritiesto prevent further attacks against pork meat trucks so that ensure their safety as it passes through French territory, whether your final destination or simply point of step towards other countries.

Last November, the FECIC already protested to the Ministry of environment and Rural Environment and marine (MARM) and the Conselleria d' agriculture, cattle, fishing, Alimentació i Medi Natural of the Generalitat of Catalonia (DAAM) the first cases of sabotage on meat from Catalan companies. European Union is also aware of these acts of vandalism, although for the moment, it is not doing anything about. According to the Federation, it would be necessary that the State authorities, regardless of the actions carried out the EU, expedite contacts with the French administration to solve this serious problem. It should not be forgotten that Catalan meat exports are a strategic element of the first magnitude for the meat sector and that France represents a step forced for their international trade.
