Beef production slows down during the first nine months of the year

Beef production fell by 1% during the first three quarters of the year. In Spain, the number of bovine animals slaughtered during the month of September was 5.4% less than in the same period of the previous year, reaching the 188.151 heads. Also was down the weight of the carcases, producing is 3.4 per cent less than meat with respect to the previous year. According to data from the survey of slaughter of livestock in slaughter of the Ministry of environment and Rural (MARM) were 50.152 tonnes of beef during the month of September. These figures confirm a negative trend throughout this year, despite the fact that the number of sacrifices accounted for some months had surpassed those of the year 2009. To get an idea, the cumulative total of sacrifices, between January and September of this year has been a 3.4% less compared to the previous year. I.e., 1.66 million head. In short, the least number of sacrifices has led to 15 fewer meat production, reaching 442.851 tons.
