The Vice-Counsellor of Rural development of the Junta de Castilla y León urges the unity of the livestock sector

After welcoming remarks by Luis Briones, Mayor of Aranda de Duero, Tomás Pascual Gomez-Cuétara, President of group milk Pascual, in addition to thanking the arandina city the host to the Conference as well as to all attendees, entered in the field: "the milk sector particularly accused the consequences of globalization, compounded by the economic crisis, with an open debate on its future in every country". Tomás Pascual said: "there is nothing that resembles more the classic good, nice and cheap than milk, because nothing is better in terms of value for money". For its part, the newly appointed general director of agricultural and livestock resources of the MARM, Margarita Arboix, took his first public intervention to make their management "commitment of the entire Department" for transparency, consensus and sustainability. Arboix, as well as offering "open" to all of his Office, concluded: "In the difficult process of the announced demise of the milk quota and the other major changes of the common agricultural policy, only move if we are a voice in Europe"", as does France, which has been able to unite farmers, industrialists and administration".
The morning session ended with a symposium, moderated by journalist María José Iglesias, between Luis Dungeon of the Federación Nacional de Industrias Lácteas, phenyl; Ramón Santalla, of the interprofessional Láctea, INLAC; Esperanza Orellana, Assistant Director-general of livestock products; Aurelio del Pino, on behalf of the distribution; and Rubén Sánchez, Facu-consumers in action. During the round table it became apparent the difficult coexistence of interests that play in the chain of production and trade. More even if you consider the current situation of Spanish, European exception in prices of milk that all observers considered too low. During the evening took place the Conference 'Prospects for the dairy sector', from the technical point of view given by Jelle Zijlstra, of the University of Wageningen (Netherlands), table and a symposium on 'Sustainability of milk production in Spain' from an economical perspective.
