The 15th day fruit, in charge of the IRTA of Lleida, closes with a number of 1,500 visitors

Eventually, the 15th day fruit, organized by the IRTA of Lleida in the estate of Mollerussa, has positioned itself as annual event of reference for the National fruit sector. In this sense, it is a unique opportunity to bring together in a single event, and at the same time to establish direct contact between fruit growers, commercial enterprises, technical groups in defense plant and cooperative, free professionals and agents involved in the marketing. It because of sharing experiences and information to meet the challenges of the sector, by agents linked to the same. With respect to the programming during the day, inaugurated by the Minister of agriculture, Joaquim Llena, made presentations on key aspects in fruit production. For example, Pere Vilardell presented possible strategies for the control of the mottled and Stemphyllium in fruit trees from seed, two of the most pressing problems during the last campaign. In his statement, were predictive models for both diseases with the aim of efficient control and carry out a significant saving on treatments. For his part, Dr. Ignasi Iglesias addressed the main agronomic of new varieties of Apple, pear and peach characteristics. Of particular interest were the results of behavior of 288 varieties of peach in the process of evaluation in the IRTA. Basically, selections of peach, Nectarine, flat peach and Nectarine flat. This highlights the importance of countries such as France, Italy and United States to varietal innovations.
The economic cost of the damage caused by strokes, to debate
At the meeting, speakers such as Carme Costa and the doctor Luís Asín discussed the economic importance of the damage that generated shock during the Apple collection. The IRTA tests have shown the possibility of reducing them picking up fruit directly on the container and preventing the action of intermediate collection equipment. Also, there has been a new prototype of machine harvesting which reduces the damage caused by the machine, using new designs and materials that decrease the impacts.
The Conference programme included an exhibition of Graziano Vittone, specialist of the research by the fruit of Italy (Croesus) Center, who exposed the State of the fruit of the Piedmont, the current situation with regard to surface and varieties, as well as major pests and diseases present in the production of fruit and its control strategies.
Rinsing in fruit of seed and bone, another topic of interest
For its part, Glòria Avila and the cheerful doctor Simó, both the IRTA specialists, presented the current situation and the future of the Dodge in fruit of seed and bone. During the Conference, it was shown that the current market situation, in which the prices of higher calibers are higher than normal, is required in intensifying the Dodge and introduce strategies for lightening of flowers, this being a necessary intervention in years with high flowering and favorable climatic conditions.
In addition to technical interventions, attendees were able to also visit an exhibition area with 26 stands of firms dedicated to the production of fertilizers, plant protection, equipment and products for irrigation, nurseries, to name a few. At the same time, visitors could also in situ discover more than 100 varieties of Apple, pear and peach.
The field demonstrations showed collection systems
In the afternoon, several demonstrations were organized in field where were evaluated in the trial of damage by shock collection systems and new training in fruit trees from seed. Montserrat Ramón unveiled the results of a new system of training in manzano called MurEix, whose production is superior to other similar systems. Despite its higher cost of planting, it is which provides a better economic return on investment. This is due to the increase in production to offset the higher initial investment.
