Convened the first Congress International of pathology of the post-harvest

The University of Lleida (UdL) and Irta have announced the holding of the first International Congress on pathology of the post-harvest from 11 to 14 April 2011, to be held in the city of Lleida and has the sponsorship of the international society for plant pathology. This international symposium will feature plenary sessions, presentations, a panel discussion and various thematic meetings and will take place in the Auditorium 'Centre of Cultures' of the Cap-Pont Campus of the University of Lleida. The topics covered include interactions ambiente-patógenos the etiology and epidemiology, the development of new control systems, molecular tools applied to pathological studies on post-harvest and production and formulation of biocontrol agents.

The scientific organizing Committee, chaired by the doctors immaculate vineyards and Josep Usall, UdL and the Lleida Irta, respectively, have invited scientists, professionals and representatives of the companies with interest in postharvest pathology not only to attend, but also to present their results in this area.

The program includes three invited papers, which will make it possible to meet and discuss about topics so important and current as the role of researchers in the fight against climate change, lack of food on the planet and its relationship with the industry. There will also be short talks selected previously by the Scientific Committee which will be included in the corresponding book of abstracts of the Congress. The third day of the Congress is expected to a large share of people associated with the industry of agrochemicals with interest in sharing information with the present researchers and learn about the latest advances in control systems.
