The region of Murcia is the effective management of agricultural residues and its contribution to the promotion of clean energy

The Minister of agriculture and water of the region of Murcia, Antonio Cerdá, emphasized "effective management" of the agricultural residues is carried out in the region and its "contribution to the promotion of clean energy", on the occasion of the day 'The energy of plants'held today in Murcia, organized by the Fundación Gas Natural. Cerdá noted that vegetable waste resulting from the agricultural activity "constitute in themselves a resource and have alternative of management such as composting or the pelletización, as in the case of waste from horticultural or woody crops"", and also energy recovery".
With regard to the alternatives for energy, he stressed the biogas plant which is putting in place the Murciano Institute of research and agricultural development and food (IMIDE), in the municipality of Lorca, for the management of waste from livestock farming"which will also have room plant waste". He also cited the biomass boilers, which promotes the Regional Agency for energy management (Argem) in recent years through various lines of grant.
Responsible autonomy for highlighted the strategic agriculture role since, he said, "produces food, creates wealth, fixed the rural population and is the main activity that contributes to the conservation of the environment". In this regard, he stressed that "the 40 million fruit trees in the region act as a real sink of CO
2".

Cerdá pointed out that the implementation of the initiative ' murcian agriculture as a sink of CO2' is "an instrument suitable for working with the consumer, the large supermarket chains and other stakeholders to contribute responsibly to the conservation of the environment".
