The Irta controls already 4,3 million records with swine genealogical information at Spain

Piger is the acronym for the comprehensive programme of management genealogy, Control breeding and genetics evaluation of races pure Porcinas which is carried out from the center of Control and evaluation of pig breeding of Irta in Monells (Girona) for the companies of the PNAS and the ACPS. This program is based on the analysis continued nearly 4.3 million records with the information of books and genealogical records of pig races in Spain.
This figure is the result of the follow-up, contrasting, validation and analysis of reproductive, and genealogical information of the selected players of pure-bred, qualified morphologically according to the racial standard, inscribed in the genealogical books of the nuclei of swine selection of our country attached to the PNAS or the ACPS. These records are complemented by the results of the official tests for the evaluation of selective broodstock in farm, station (production and meat yield) and their corresponding genetic evaluations.
