Seville takes advantage of sludge from purification of wastewater for agricultural purposes

In 2008, Emasesa, the Metropolitan company of water supply and sanitation of water of Seville, earmarked for the agricultural use live a total of 31.922 tonnes of sludge from purification, while the remaining 40.274 tonnes were composted at the premises of the Cupbearer. This process led to the production of 11.260 tons of sludge composted and 944 tons with biomass, whose characteristics allow its use as a fertilizer. The applied compost production process incorporated the use of 1,200 tonnes of biomass chipped from green waste of city, with the consequent recovery and recycling of the same.
