The Government appoints Josep Maria Monfort new Director General of the Irta
September 17, 2008
From the last 17 September, Josep Maria Monfort i Bolívar is the new Director-General of the Irta (Institut de Recerca i Tecnologia Agroalimentàries), in replacement of the then maximum responsible of the Centre, Josep Tarragó, who resigned from the post on a voluntary basis.
The proposal and appointment of Monfort has been made after an extensive selection process, carried out in recent months and led by the Minister of agriculture, Alimentació i Acció Rural of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Joaquim Llena. The Minister, in response to the peculiar characteristics of a body such as the Irta, dedicated to research and transfer of technology, which requires training and specific skills in people who opt to your address, created an ad hoc Committee to advise in this process. This Committee, composed of persons of recognized prestige and experience scientific, business and administrative, evaluated the candidates presented to the call that was made public and gave its recommendations to the Minister.
