The high quality expositiva and the numerous innovative proposals of the fair complemented with distinct acts, conferences and technical days

The International Fair of the Water, Smagua, clausuró his eighteenth edition the past 14 March with the best balance of his history, so much by the number of companies expositoras, that reached the 1.725, as by the big influx of professional visitors, 35.112 of which 1.903 were foreign pertinent of 65 countries. These figures consolidate the living room like indisputable leader of his speciality in the European panorama. The measure of the success of this edition of Smagua is given by the significant growth of all their parameters: more exhibitors, more space and greater influx of professional visits. This is added the high-level technological and innovative of the proposals presented by exhibiting companies, which have aroused great interest among professionals of the sector and have been the subject of praise from the specialized press.

Smagua 2008 has won massive support from the industry sector of the water, with the participation of 1,725 exhibiting firms and the visit of more than 35,000 professionals from all over the world, surpassing his own records and forecasts of the organization. Participating companies from 39 countries, 722 were Spanish, while the 1.003 remaining were foreign, what confirms the marked international character of the event.

Between attending European firms, the Germany and Italy were the most numerous, with 186 and 198 companies respectively; 160 US companies and 82 Asiatic, among other sources, such as the United Arab Emirates, Singapore or Egypt have also gone. With these figures, and according to the first collated, the fair has experienced a growth of 10 percent in number of exhibitors with regard to its previous edition in 2006. In the exhibition area, it has grown by 22 per cent, reaching 80,000 square metres divided into nine wards, two pavilions rather than in the previous call.

With these optimum results the room maintains the same path of constant growth of its later editions. In particular, from 2000 to 2008 has grown 70 percent in number of exhibitors and has nearly tripled the occupied area.

Smagua 2008 attendees, professionals and experts in water technology there has been total unanimity to emphasize high quality Exhibition Hall, reflected in the large number of technological innovations which presented companies, both Spanish as in other countries.

New issued in the fair solutions covering all subsectors of the contest, prospecting and water catchment, both driving and transport, although the equipment for treatment, purification and recycling of water which drew the largest number of new proposals.

The companies that presented 63 technical innovations strictly considered innovations were a total of 48. Among them, include a novel electronic nose for detecting odors in continuous, and as a result of possible leaks of gases; or also a biological system of wastewater treatment by percolation and Vermiculture, using earthworms as a biological filter, does not generate unstable mud and is completely environmentally friendly. Other devices presented in this edition are, for example, a system anti legionella to networks of sanitary hot water and innovative systems of remote management for integrated cycle of water, among other contributions.

Smagua Awards

To highlight the innovative character of the contest, two professional technical publications in collaboration with fair of Zaragoza, organized the Smagua Award (I) the development and application of technology in the sectors of water and irrigation. On 12 March were awarded some of the goods which, having been presented to the three latest editions of new technical features of the fair, had had a greater or more prominent development and actual implementation on the market.

The news are classified into five different categories, and were awarded three prizes for each of the categories, a total 15 awards. These categories were: pipes and accessories, valves and pumps, supply, sanitation and water treatment, instrumentation, control and analysis and, finally, irrigation.

Some of the winning teams were, for example, a few deposits of expansion of double membrane for drinking water; a tube of ductile conduction to water reclaimed with distinctive color for destined for the irrigation of parks and gardens and flushing of streets, or a complete system of remote control via radio for the management of fertirrigation in communities of irrigatorsparks and gardens, among other many new and highly functional equipment.

In each edition of Smagua are careful and timely trade missions. The objective of these meetings is to facilitate contacts between delegations of importers and exhibiting companies and create fruitful commercial links between these. In this ocasiónla show has gathered more than a hundred of foreign trade delegations. On the one hand, the Association of exporters of equipment for manipulation of fluids (Fluidex) and Amec (Multisectorial Association of companies), with the support of the Spanish Institute of foreign trade (Icex) and the fair of Zaragoza, organized the visit to the contest of business delegations from 31 countries for three days. These delegations were composed by companies for the supply of water engineering and construction of distribution networks and/or debugging and agents and distributors of equipment of the sector.

There were also various organized encounters between Spanish companies and others from Germany, Ireland and France, as well as the commercial missions with delegations from countries such as Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Russia, Czech Republic, United Arab Emirates, Malaysia or United States.

High-level technical forum

Smagua and the lounge of the environment have served once more as a framework for the holding of various events, conferences and technical sessions that have been highlighted by its high level, with the attendance of experts from all areas of the integrated management of water, and they have also pointed out the excellent moment that lives the technology of the water industry. In the context of the environmental Congress highlighted the seminar ' the agriculture with the Expo 2008. Water and renewable energy ' in which dealt with issues such as policy and legal instruments for a sustainable agriculture, sustainable use of water or the implementation of agri-environmental measures linked to a better management of the water. In the second part of this seminar was also analysed the 7th framework programme for r & d, renewable energy and agriculture or energy crops, among others.

Also held a series of technical conferences that focused on evacuation of building water systems, energy-saving in the transport of fluids or new systems for sanitation, among other topics. Also developed different technical conferences dedicated to the treatment of water, the various examples of last generation facilities and control systems. On the other hand, in the technical conference dedicated to the reuse of purified wastewater, deepened, among other topics, in the Royal Decree 1620 / 2007, of December 7, which sets the parameters of the quality of the watersthe cost of the reuse and the obligation and the use of resources.

The success of this last call of Smagua and adequate response and massive support for the sector ratify the ascending line who has followed the Hall since its inception, which confirms this as a reference in the global panorama of the water industry. Smagua 2008 concluded with an eye toward the future, a future which announces highly productive for a sector that already generates a high demand for technology and that with each new edition of the Hall Displays further their potential.

Continuous innovation is the key to the development of this sector, which is already capable of maintained two-digit growth and has established itself at the time did Smagua.
