Cema provides for an increase of 8% in the European market for agricultural equipment

According to the latest estimates of Cema Committee representing the European industry of agricultural machinery to the institutions of the EU, in particular to the European Parliament and the European Commission, the European market of agricultural equipment in 2007 could reach the 20,200 million EURwhich would lead to an increase of 8 per cent, and that would reflect "the consistency of European agriculture". The total market for tractors in 2007 would increase by 3 per cent, reaching 164,000 units.

The increase in sales in Europe during 2007 as a whole is, according to Cema, a true reflection of a set of investments carried out by farmers, that encouraged by the results of a good agricultural year, they have acquired more efficient machines that reduce production costsguarantee greater security in their use and further assist in the protection of the environment. On the other hand, the manufacturers of these teams have had to face strong price increases of raw materials, mainly steel and petroleum products, that production costs have skyrocketed.

Economic experts from Cema have confirmed the trend of the European market, which will be extended in 2008, experiencing another close to 5 per cent increase. The Congress held by Cema has meant "an important milestone" for the European partnership, as the national associations and the companies have agreed to an essential reform whose main objective is the strengthening of the European partnership, improving its role as the voice of Europe of agricultural machinery industry. In addition to the greater involvement and commitment of all the leading manufacturers in the sector, this reform is the improvement of the activities of lobby at the European level. For this reason, Cema is moving its offices to Brussels, so that it gets even more to the Centre of decision-making of the European Union.

Another of the agreements has been the appointment of a new President of Cema. Federico Corradini, Director Industrial of CNH, has assumed the Presidency of Cema. In turn, will be supported in the figures of two Vice-Presidents, Gilles Dryancour, Director of the European Office of Deere & Company, and Franz - Georg von Busse, Director of Lemken GmbH & Co. KG, and a new Board of directors consisting of executives from companies in all areas of the agricultural machinery industry, among which we can count with Julio Fernández Marmolejo, Director General of Kubota Spain, S.A.
