Spanish success in the II European Congress of Young Agriculturalists sponsored by Marry IH

In his second edition, the European Congress of Young Agriculturalists has explained again with a Spanish winner. Centred in seeds ‘it early of sunflower', the study of the young agriculturalist gaditano Pedro Gallardo Barrier has been chosen like the most innovative project. The event, that has gathered to more than 350 hard-working youngsters of the pertinent agricultural sector of twenty countries of the Union, stood out the work of the young agriculturalists in the supply of foods and his paper to ensure the perduración of the rural areas. “We are proud to participate in this important event”, commented Matthew Foster, vice-president of Marry IH Europe, Middle East and Africa, in his opening speech. “It is indisputable that the agriculturalists confront today to three significant challenges: the need to increase the world-wide production of foods; the need to harvest more, consuming less resources; and the urgent need to reduce the environingingmental impact of the agriculture. We need to seat the bases properly, only like this our young agriculturalists will be able to reach his challenging challenges. They need and deserve our support”, puntualizaba Foster.

In a final to which have arrived projects very new, pertinent of 18 community countries, the Spanish project awarded treats to imitate of course the conditions of the crop of the sunflower in regadío, saving costs and converting the zone of crop –a finca of secano– in reservation and zone of child of animal species. The project, that in the three last years has achieved to obtain similar half productions to the ones of a finca of irrigation, reduces the consumption of water and of products pesticidas and, in consequence, protects the biodiversity. “When we initiate this project does already six years, did it by chance”, explains Pedro Gallardo. “All our neighbours us take you by crazy when we decide to continue the experiment during all these years. Until the moment have implanted the new method in a total of 200 hectares and a lot of our neighbours have begun to follow suit. When I think in our starts, do not doubt in recommending to other young agriculturalists that dare to undertake his projects and to commit his own errors, and that apply these errors to learn and improve. These errors with all hygiene will report them future profits”, recalcó.

“The paper of the young agriculturalists in the modern sustainable agriculture is key”, explained Foster. “The industry has to be prepared to cater technical solutions that help to the young agriculturalists in all his projects of future. And here it is where companies as it Marry IH Agriculture have to go in at stake. We have the solutions –as for example the technologies of agriculture of precision– with which the agriculturalists can cover the needs of the current and future society. However, have equally the responsibility of concienciar to politicians and to the society in general of the reality of our agriculture and of those factors that could hinder his development. At the same time, we have to review attainments and positive examples. And this is exactly what had in mind when we decide to support the Congress of Young Agriculturalists 2014”, anadió Foster. “Supporting to the II European Congress of Young Agriculturalists, clearly illustrate the commitment of our mark with the agriculture in general and with the young agriculturalists in particular. There are impressesive projects that show the capacity, pre-disposal and win to do of the young agriculturalists”, concluded.
