The Spanish Association of Manufacturers of Agronutrientes (Aefa) has valued the Directive of Sustainable Use of phytosanitary ware (DUS), as well as his trasposición to the normative Spaniard through the Royal decree 1311/2012 and the consistent development of the Plan of National Action (BREAD) already under way. In this sense, Victoria Cadahía, technical director of Aefa, has commented that, although it is true that, directly, “the others half of phytosanitary ware defence (OMDF) remain out of the field of the BREAD, strictly headed to the phytosanitary ware”, also is it that “there are measures that could favour the use of other alternative such as the OMDF and, of course, the promote them”, appearance, this last, that results very interesting for Aefa.

The BREAD pursues the sustainable use of phytosanitary ware inside the Integrated Production and, to his time, looks for to boost alternatives to these products. Between these alternatives would find the OMDF, products that belong to the world of the vegetal health but that at all have to see with the phytosanitary ware. Between the OMDF would situate , for example, some bioestimulantes, inductores of resistance, some microorganisms, the called organisms of biological control (OCB) or the cheats of pheromones, among others many.

In the actuality, almost all the companies associated to Aefa or already work with these OMDF or are very interested in the investigation and development of these other means of phytosanitary ware defence, that of course have to be communicated and registered by the Magrama. The BREAD opens in front of them an opportunity more than interesting in the Integrated Production of crops.

Likewise, the BREAD contemplates between his measures the set up of operative groups that allow to have access to the European bottoms of investigation and for the innovation in the field of the sustainable agriculture and, more specifically, for the set up of projects of investigation and innovation in the field of the integrated gestión of plagues. Beside this measure collected in the BREAD, from Aefa also signal the promotion of technicians that minimise the risk or the creation and the maintenance of the Register of Producers and Operators of means of phytosanitary ware defence (Ropo), that will manage the Autonomous Communities.

The BREAD also opens the door to the called 'orphan crops' or 'lower crops', such as the celery, the leek, the espárrago, artichoke, calçots, tender onion, spinach, raspberry, cranberry, aromatic crops for export and many others of big economic interest in some zones. These crops characterise for having a high economic value, thanks to a constant demand; however, when being little the destined surface to his production and very seasonal, and taking into account the high cost that supposes the register of phytosanitary ware for his care, are few the products that, for the time being, exist to combat his plagues and illnesses. The producers Are remaining without sufficient tools for his crops, with the consequent economic damage.

In this sense, from Aefa have affirmed that these crops suppose an interesting alternative for the OMDF, products with which work his companies associated, since “all these crops go to see favoured by the BREAD”. In this line, Victoria Cadahía has added that “they will be able to be the OCB, or products to base of raw materials of natural origin or of substances without waste and of low risk”, in definite, that are apt for the ecological agriculture, those that go to be able to use in these crops”.
