Near of 400 agriculturalists, technicians and distributors of
Syngenta in the zone north of Spain attended to the Palace of Congresses of Vitoria-Gazteiz to assist to the day 'Main challenges of the agriculture in the 21st century in the horizon 2050', sponsored by the fungicida Bring together Xtra. The need to increase the production of foods without using more agricultural surface and using of efficient form the natural resources, as well as the need to be more competitive through improving the quality of the agricultural production, are two key challenges for the future. The day organised by Syngenta in Vitoria-Gazteiz, sponsored by his fungicida for cereal Bring together Xtra, centred in notable appearances for the agriculturalists, as it is the alimentary hygiene to world-wide level, the paper of the R&D in the agricultural sector, the key points to increase the final quality of the crops or the new reform of the PAC. For this had speakers of undoubted prestige, as Francisco Garcíto Olmedo, chair of Biochemicals of the UPM, Takeśs Garcíto Azcarate, adviser of Coordination of Economic Analyses of the DGA (European Commission) or Amaia Ortiz Barredo, Boss of Production and Vegetal Protection of Neiker, as well as several representatives of Syngenta to European level, responsible of the programs of R&D and improvement in cereal.
Between the conclusions to stand out of the day it is necessary to mention a notable data as it is that to feed to the more than 9.000 million inhabitants that there will be in 2050 is necessary to improve in 70% the agricultural production to world-wide level without increasing the earths of crop. This only can realise through the technology and the efficient gestión of the resources since every time we touch to less agricultural surface per person to feed us (at present would touch us ¼ of has per person). In this sense, all the speakers coincided in that there is move the agricultural technician and the current technology to the developing zones where can increase enormously the productive potential, whereas in Europe and other very advanced regions to agricultural level, the bet goes through to improve the quality to be more competitive.
In this sense, the managers of Syngenta gave several examples of how can improve the production and the quality through the investigation and development of specific solutions for each crop. Like this, Daniela Pfeifer, responsible of hybrid seeds of cereals of Syngenta for Europe, Africa and Half Orient (EAME), ensured that they already are realising essays where shows that with hybrids of wheat or soya can increase the production near of this 70% that will need by hectare. Syngenta Has 7 programs of hybridisation of cereals, as well as programs of saving of water in cereals and of Handle Integrated cheese cheese (ICM).
