Feragua Votes in the National Council of the Water in favour of the Hydrological Plan of the Guadalquivir
13 December 2012
During his intervention in the National Council of the Water, the president of Feragua, Margarita Bustamante, underlined that the big communities of regantes are composed by agriculturalists, big and small, that organise to attain economies of scale and a greater efficiency, and that exist big Communities of regantes formed only by small agriculturalists, “by what the establishment of maximum endowments for the big communities can not say that have at least a social justification”. Likewise, it insisted in that the limitation of the water to said zones regables does not have any justification agronómica, as a surface of regadío of any crop (rice, corn, cotton, olivar, …), consumes the same endowment of water, with independence that was inside some big Communities of Regantes (elder to 2.500 have) or of some Communities of Regantes of lower size. Finally, it described the proposal of the Board of Andalucia like “an offend and inequality” of treatment with the rest of Communities of Regantes of Spain and of the own Andalusian seaboard, that do not see affected with this limitation to the big Communities of Regantes. “The own Board of Andalucia in the Hydrological Plans of the Andalusian Seaboard, elaborated by her same, and recently approved by the Government, has not included any proposal of limitation to big Communities of Regantes”, signalled Margarita Bustamante.
